In the forests of southern Chile dwell the Pupuka, protective spirits that accompany the daily lives of those in need of shelter and care.
Deep within the lush forests of southern Chile, the voice of Elba Jara Trecanahuel recalls the ancient Mapuche tale of the «Pupuka,» guardian spirits who assist with the domestic labors of the forsaken.
Pupuka emerged as a native language revitalization initiative led by the Mapuche organizations Ñolkinko and Kiñetu! from the Araucanía Region, Chile. The project was realized with the support of the Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC).
