Blending analog film, improbable encounters, and Méliès-style trickery, The Art of Wasting Time follows two generations as they sabotage the logic of productivity, restoring cinema’s essence as a form of play.

Official Selections

In Viña del Mar, Camila (33) faces a physical breakdown: a work-related injury forces her to step away from filmmaking. In the depths of her frustration, she meets Lucho (72)—a sculptor who has made «doing nothing» his personal fortress. Together with a 16mm camera, they transform her forced hiatus into creative sabotage. By invoking the magic of Georges Méliès, cinema ceases to be an industry and returns to being a game, turning leisure into their greatest act of resistance.
