Chile-Based Documentary Company Develops New Film

Our audiovisual production company advances with new documentary

As an audiovisual production company, we are happy to share that our documentary project, «The Art of Wasting Time,» has been selected for funding by the Fondo Audiovisual de Chile Script category. This recognition secures the necessary resources for research and scriptwriting, consolidating a key step in its development alongside our co-producer, Pejeperro Films.

«The Art of Wasting Time»

Directed by Camila Toro, the documentary stars artist Luis Abarca. At 70 years old, he challenges the norms of traditional art through play and experimentation. Set in the Siete Hermanas Housing Complex in Viña del Mar, the story follows Camila, who, after an injury forces her away from her camera, finds in her neighbor a new way to create without expectations or concrete goals. The project explores playfulness as a tool for healing and creativity, integrating surrealist and documentary elements into its narrative.

In addition to the support from the Audiovisual Fund, the project has achieved major milestones in recent months:

Confluencias Regional Documentary Lab

As part of the 6th Ñuble National Film Festival, the project was chosen for this lab, which brings together projects with an authentic and committed narrative approach.

"It aims to highlight the importance of the everyday in friendship and the exploration of art, and it does so beautifully with a creative and promising team."
Sheffield Doc Fest, 2024

This documentary has been gaining momentum with the support of key allies like Esteban Sandoval of the audiovisual production company Pejeperro Films, who is also the project’s executive producer. The integration of these development and industry spaces allows us to continue expanding the film’s universe and reaching new audiences in Chile and abroad.

At Pikun Films, we want to thank all the people and institutions that have believed in *The Art of Wasting Time*. We continue to move forward as an audiovisual production company with the conviction that creativity, playfulness, and experimentation remain essential tools for telling stories that transform us.
