Narrated in the Mapuche language, this documentary explores the work of artist Bernardo Oyarzún as a prism to reflect on indigenous identity, territory, and systemic oppression.

An unjust detention «under suspicion» motivated artist Bernardo Oyarzún to create a self-portrait as a «criminal,» reclaiming his indigenous appearance against the racism of Chilean society. His nephew, Daniel Díaz—an apprentice and heir to that same skin—guides us through an intimate reflection on his uncle’s career, narrating in the Mapuche language a reunion with their ancestors.

This Chilean documentary immerses us in an intimate journey that challenges the historical erasure of a country carrying the silence of its Mapuche lineage. Throughout its 64-minute runtime, the director weaves deep reflections that invite introspection and a reconnection with our roots.

We are truly thrilled to present our first feature-length documentary—a work that transcends boundaries and marks a historical milestone as the first film narrated entirely in the Mapuche language. We believe this project paves new ways for linguistic and cultural diversity, celebrating the richness and vital importance of preserving the traditions of our territories.

Pejeperro Films led the project in collaboration with Eskama Audiovisual, Pikun Films, and Cristian Mellado, all of whom contributed their expertise and passion to bring this unique cinematic work to life. Together, we joined forces to create an audiovisual production that captivates, moves, and delivers a story that leaves no one indifferent.
